The Top 3 Reasons to Make Ashland, Oregon Your Next Hometown

Ashland, Oregon is an amazing place to live. We at Royce Real Estate are some of the most passionate advocates of this truth and it shows!

Here are the top 3 reasons you should settle in the beautiful town of Ashland, Oregon.

The Market

We are happy to report that we have seen an up-tick in the sold prices for Ashland’s upper-end market in 2013, showing a healthy improvement in the housing market this year.

Prior to 2013 it had been a few years since almost any property sold over $1,300,000! As a matter of fact, not even one property sold over $1,100,000 in 2012!

The median sold price for upper-end homes in Ashland during recent years was: $1,050,000 in 2011; $967,500 in 2012; and $1,148,714 in 2013.

And, out of the 7 upper-end properties ($800,000 or above) that sold in Ashland in 2013, Royce Real Estate sold two of them. We also sold the highest priced, in-town, Ashland property which sold for $1,450,000!

The Culture

We are excited about this beginning influx of luxury home buyers and seeing the improvement in the market! But what’s causing it?

Well, the buyers of these homes are still coming in larger numbers from California - both Northern and Southern. More frequently now, they are able to sell their homes there for good prices and as they are free to investigate other areas, they are turning to Ashland, Oregon! But, we also see buyers from Portland and Seattle, as well as all different parts of the country who want to live in one of the very best of all the small towns in America.

People move to Ashland for its livability, great cultural events, year-round outdoor activities, fine dining, excellent schools, very low traffic count, and some of the friendliest, non-harried, people one could hope to meet!

Ashland is unique in that it is a small town with the amenities of a much larger city!

The Weather

Ashland is lucky to welcome four distinct seasons every year, while still being able to boast a mild enough climate to enjoy outdoor activities all year. In the summer, residents are welcomed with typical highs in the 80’s and nighttime lows in the 50’s. Winters consist mainly of clear chilly days without much disagreeable weather.

Common outdoor activities for various times of the year include hiking, biking, rafting, camping, fishing, rock climbing, kayaking and walking, as well as skiing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The beautiful climate also makes it an ideal place for sightseeing and gardening!

We love calling Ashland our home and we know you will too!

Wishing you joy in your home,

Sandy
